The general sexuality and violence of many comics? A-OK!

Cock? TRAUMA.

Eh. Dunno about Hart, but I have a kid and wouldn't be bothered at all.

Great post. Marvel has a long history of ****ing people over. It seems with each passing year they get worse, their business practices, steadily destroying the marketplace simply over market share. When they went bankrupt the first time, I was happy because I thought, 'That'll learn ya.". Now that they're bought by Disney, they'll stay around forever now and corrode the industry even more. Ugh. The sad thing for me? Is that half the people don't know just how much of a shyster MArvel really is and the other half doesn't care as long as Spider-man, Cap and all the rest come out every month. And every time some talented wide-eyed new blood joins the ranks and works for them I weep for the creator because I know what's coming for them. MOvies using their work and not being paid for it, T-shirts, designs, all under "work for hire" so Marvel owns it.

I've heard the "Comics are for Kids" thing since I started publishing. I didn't make a t-shirt that says "Marvel Can Suck My Dick" for a reason. I gave parents the out. A Cock is a Rooster. You ever heard the phrase "Cock of the Walk?" It comes from a strutting Rooster. If a convention was upset, I put tape over the word "Cock". The shirt is no different than half the double entendre's that come out of Bart Simpsons mouth. But because of the way I've been marketed sold, the shirt is scary or mean, purely because of it's relation with me.

And just to set the record straight, comics are not a kids medium. Comics are far and away an adult medium, worldwide.

Once Image was founded, except on a few rare occasions (Ultimate Spider-Man being one of them), I WON'T buy Marvel. They are dead to me and a tainted brand. DC's getting there quickly, except for Green Lantern.

I totally agree with you that what Marvel did was messed up and after almost bringing down the industry, and finally getting back on their feet they are back at it again (variant covers, jacking up the price of their books 33% for the sake of increasing their profits during a recession, etc.) but I have one question for you. If you were at the con with your family which included some kids, would you appreciate it if some guy was walking around with a "Marvel suck my cock" t-shirt? The con, and most other cons are billed as family events and some of them even push Sundays as "Family Day". So I wonder how appropriate was this?
