Geekery:

Sam Liu was actually one of Liefeld's finds in the mid-90's. Post getting ousted from Image central and pre-Awesome Entertainment, Liefeld had a company called Maximum Press, which lasted just long enough for him to spend the remainder of his Marvel money. He first picked up the Battlestar Galactica license there, and began the Warchild series which Alan Moore later scripted. AND, he had a small handful of assignments filled by then rookie Sam Liu, who has gone on to direct animation for Marvel and DC.

(and so ends my mother of a Matt Pinfield impersonation)
